10 Simple Steps To Reach Your Goals!
I know the title has instantly brought a vision of yours to mind.
What's that feeling you have there?
Fear? Guilt? Uncertainty? All of the above?
Whether it's a passion project or a career goal, here is a guide on how to get there (or at least a lot closer)!
WARNING: This is very simple and requires you to do work!
1.) Write your goal down. It can be one word or a sentence. You'll probably need a notepad for this journey.
2.) Is it realistic and achievable? You can be optimistic but get your head out of the clouds! If it is, proceed. If not, chuck it in the trash.
3.) Schedule in time during the week for you to make your first baby steps towards it. Whether it's 30 minutes a day or 10 minutes a week. Write it in permanent marker in your diary. Let's call this 'goal time'.
4.) Who in your life has experience living out your dreams or goals? Ask them for their priceless advice! People are happy to help.
5.) Write a short-term goal (e.g. less than one year). Multiple goals are helpful whether this is every day, week, fortnight, month or year is up to you.
6.) Draft the steps you need to take to reach each goal (starting from the goal deadline finishing first and then to the longer-short term goals (that was an oxymoron, I know!))
7.) Break these steps down (if they are big) before your designated 'goal time' and write down three to ten things you can definitely achieve during this time aka a to-do list.
8.) Do the steps. Stop daydreaming!
9.) Repeat steps 4 to 8.
10.) Don't be discouraged! If it's not working, maybe consider taking a different approach or angle.
Obviously goals aren't achieved on a linear framework so there is some give and take on this list. Do not be frustrated when things don't go your way. Pick yourself back up and go back to the drawing board... or drawing diary!
If you don't do anything how do you know whether your dreams were reachable?
I would rather fail knowing I tried than done nothing, achieved nothing and accomplished nothing.
